After having the first open date on its 2012 schedule, the Texas State football team returns to action this Saturday night when the Bobcats play host to Stephen F. Austin in a non-conference game on Jim Wacker Field at Bobcat Stadium. The game kicks off at 6 p.m.

Texas State enters the game looking for their second win this season and improving its record to 2-1 against the Lumberjacks, who have a 1-2 record. The Bobcats began this season with an impressive 30-13 win at Houston before falling 58-10 in their home opener against Texas Tech. Stephen F. Austin is looking to rebound from a 52-0 loss at SMU on Sept. 8 and a 43-35 setback at No. 3-ranked Montana State last Saturday.
Saturday night’s game marks the second straight year that Texas State and Stephen F. Austin will play a non-conference game against each other after they were conference foes from 1923-2010. Texas State enters the game with a 56-29-1 advantage in the series between the two schools after winning the previous five games and seven of the last eight contests.
Last season, the Bobcats jumped out to a 28-10 lead before SFA rallied to score 16 unanswered points pull to within two points with four minutes left to play. The Bobcats answered when Shaun Rutherford ran 22 yards for a touchdown and Will Johnson added the extra point to make the final score 35-26.

The Bobcat Club has limited parking remaining on the west side of the football stadium. Each space requires a $500 donation to the Bobcat Club. At the Bronze Level, benefits include a parking pass, two (2) meal tickets for a pre-game meal in the Sac N Pac room catered by Texas Roadhouse among other benefits for all home football games.
The Texas State-Stephen F. Austin game can also be heard live on ESPN Austin (1260 AM) in the Austin area, on KTSW (89.9 FM) and KZOS (92.5 FM) in San Marcos and KLUP (930 AM) in San Antonio. Brant Freeman serves as the play-by-play announcer and Bill Culhane serves as the color analyst. The broadcast begins with a one-hour pre-game show and concludes with a 15-minute post-game show. In addition to those areas, Bobcat fans can also listen to the game on the internet by logging on to the Texas State Athletics website, www.txstatebobcats.com.
