San Marcos area restauranteurs will serve up their signature dishes at the third annual Taste of Hays County this weekend at the Redbird Skyport in San Marcos.
The fundraiser for United Way of Hays County will run 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23. General admission tickets are $25 and are on sale at United Way’s website here.
“Strolling through the Taste of Hays County is really a culinary voyage. There are dishes that reflect tastes from not only across Hays County, but from across the globe,” says Ellen Hoffman, United Way of Hays County programs coordinator.
Participating restaurants this year include Bailey’s Burgers, Centerpoint Station, First Impressions Bakery, Fresh Cubed, Gumby’s Pizza, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, LoveBaked Cupcakes, Nonna Gina’s Italian Restaurant, Palmer’s Restaurant Bar & Courtyard, The Pedestrian Street Café, The Root Cellar Café and Tavern on Main.
Guests taste samples and vote for their favorites in one of seven “Best of” categories. Palmer’s Restaurant, Bar & Courtyard has won the “Best Overall” award for the past two years.
The rockabilly group The Georges will play a medley of toe-tapping hits from the 50’s and 60’s. Throughout the evening guests can also bid on silent auction goods and services donated by local artisans, individuals and business owners.
