STAFF REPORT

A discussion by the city council on the possible acquisition of Cape’s Camp for park and recreational purposes initially scheduled for the July 31 meeting has been postponed.

The item is expected to be on the agenda for the Aug. 7 regular meeting.

Earlier this month, the council instructed its staff to contact the 98-acre property’s owners about buying the land for public use. Council members also moved to commission an independent appraisal and prepare ballot language for a possible non-binding referendum on the purchase in November.

Part of the property is currently under contract to sell to a student housing developer.
