Sustainable San Marcos has been awarded $18,967 in federal Community Development Block Grant funds to build a community garden on Alamo Street, the second such project the nonprofit group has undertaken. The federal money is administered by the San Marcos City Council.

Last year, Sustainable San Marcos used private donations to build its first garden on city-owned land in the Dunbar neighborhood. In this video story, volunteer AUSTIN VAN ZANT talks about the project and how it is helping San Marcos residents become closer with their food.
