The Spring Lake Hills neighborhood celebrated Independence Day with its sixth annual July 4 parade and party. A parade on Mimosa Circle drew entries ranging from antique automobiles to ATVs to kids’ bikes as flag-waving neighbors watched from lawn chairs along the procession’s route.
Afterward, neighbors gathered at Jim Bob and Lisa Spencer’s home for a potluck dinner; Allyn Gill and Howard Nichols provided brisket and fried chicken. Resident Kay Nichols led the 120 or so people in attendance in singing “God Bless America.” Then everyone ate a meal blessed by Mary Ann Huston.
After dinner, everyone watched the city’s fireworks show from the hilltop home.
