San Marcos police and park rangers arrested two suspects in connection with multiple vehicle burglaries that occurred Sunday afternoon in the 600 block of Cape Road near Stokes Park.
Jeremy Bragg, 31, is charged with four counts of burglary of motor vehicle and one count of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony. Because he has two prior convictions, Bragg’s burglary charges are enhanced to state jail felonies. Jeremy Silguero, 29, was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant for illegal possession of a firearm.
They are being held at the Hays County Law Enforcement Center under $17,000 bond for Bragg and $5,000 for Silguero.
The arrests came after San Marcos police responded to assist San Marcos Fire Marshal Ken Bell, who oversees the city’s river rangers. Ranger supervisor Jeff Caldwell was investigating four vehicle burglaries that occurred along the San Marcos River in the 600 block of Cape Road.
Personal items, electronics, and a firearm were taken from vehicles parked at the park.
The investigation led police to a home at 408 Patricia Drive, according to San Marcos police Cmdr. Penny Dunn. The Criminal Investigations Division assisted Bell in obtaining a search warrant for the residence and vehicles.
Investigators located and seized several items positively identified as stolen as well as suspected stolen property that included cell phones, wallets, identification, credit cards, rappelling equipment, car stereo components, knives, and firearms.Email | Print
