I am pleased as punch, as they say, to announce the launch of a new question-and-answer column penned by the Functional Girl, Kyle resident CJ Legare.
The Functional Girl column, which will run on Mondays in the San Marcos Mercury, aims to offer advice on everything from fashion to relationships to diet and exercise for today’s “real women,” not the waif-y Photoshop jobs of magazine covers and billboards.
Legare brings a unique background to this calling. Through her early 20s, she was a plus-size model — the first one signed by Elite model Management’s Miami division — and worked extensively in the fashion and entertainment industries. Later, she was a mobile marketing tour manager and traveled the country.
After marrying and settling down in Hays County, Legare launched Functional Girl, which she describes as a “lifestyles brand rooted in the idea that living a good life isn’t a luxury.”
“I want to redefine female culture by empowering women to celebrate themselves, to embrace sisterhood and to love the way they live every day,” Legare said.
While certainly a departure from the newsier content we normally offer, I think Functional Girl is going to quickly become one of our most popular recurring features.Email | Print
