The city of San Marcos Permit Center will offer three days of hands-on training sessions for contractors and users of the MyPermitNow permitting system on three different days next week.
The half-hour, small group sessions will run 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 26 to Thursday, June 28. All training sessions will be held in the Permit Center behind City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins.
“This training will be held in small groups that allow attendees to ask questions and work individually with staff to become familiar and comfortable with the system,” permit center manager Abigail Gillfillan said. “We have several new features, such as online payment, that make the permit process quicker and simpler for customers.”
The sessions will cover how to set up a MyPermitNow account; how to apply and pay for permits online; and how to upload plans, schedule inspections and view permit reports.
“The program has made great strides in improving the review process for construction permits. Since its introduction in January 2012, the average review time for permit applications has improved from 29 days in 2011 to 9 days in 2012,” Gillfillan said.
