Homebuilder James Bigelow has completed his relocation from the suburban Chicago to the Central Texas market with an announcement today that he is moving his company headquarters to San Marcos from Auora, Ill.
Bigelow Homes has been operating in Hays County since 2006 when it bought out and revamped the Blanco River Village subdivision on Texas 21 in San Marcos. It previously developed the Hometown Aurora subdivision on Chicago’s outskirts.
Bigelow said he was recruited to build homes by former Mayor Susan Narvaiz who read about the homebuilder in a trade magazine. In 2010, Bigelow Homes bought lots and started selling homes in the Plum Creek subdivision in Kyle where it most recently opened a cluster of garden homes called Grace Park.
Bigelow Homes employs 11 people hired locally in addition to James Bigelow, the company’s chief executive officer.
