The U.S. Air Force is planning to move its C-130 cargo planes, which were used to douse flames during last year’s wildfires, out of Texas. But as Era Sundar of KUT News reports, officials are warning that the move could leave Texas and other Gulf states unprepared to deal with major emergencies.
ERA SUNDAR reports for KUT News where this story was originally aired. It is rebroadcast here through a news partnership between KUT News and the San Marcos Mercury.
CORRECTION: This story originally appeared with a photo of a DC-9 plane shown fighting a brush fire in San Marcos last year. It was published in error and has been replaced with a photo of a C-130 cargo plane talked about in the story.
