A 24-year old Wimberley man died Thursday evening after he lost control and was thrown off the motorcycle he was driving on Sessom Drive just west of North LBJ.

Bobby Harrison Salmons, 24, was pronounced dead after being transported to Central Texas Medical Center.

According to Sgt. Chris Tureaud, the fatal accident occurred around 6:55 p.m. Salmons was traveling westbound on Sessom Drive. After going through the intersection at North LBJ, he lost control, struck a curb and left the roadway where he was ejected from the motorcycle.

The Collision Investigation team of the San Marcos Police Department is continuing its investigation. This is the fifth fatal traffic wreck in San Marcos in 2012.

  1. This is so very sad.

    I know that the cause of the accident hasn’t been determined yet, and I’m not assigning any blame here – but my first gut reaction was “I wish the traffic moved slower on that road!”

    I travel Sessom frequently; it’s honestly a miracle that there aren’t more serious accidents than already happen.

    Please — is there *any* way to calm traffic on Sessom, particularly the uphill curvy area? Lower the speed limit? More signage? Greater police presence and enforcement? Perhaps the counters that register a car’s speed as it approaches?

    What other ideas are out there…..
