Miller Middle School students Sarah Mock and Kerra Sachtleben were recently awarded the Girl Scouts’ Silver Award for a soccer clinic they held for younger girls.
Mock and Sachtleben have been teammates on a championship soccer team for more than four years. They each put in about 50 volunteer hours organizing and conducting the one-day clinic, which was held in February at the Five Mile Dam Park soccer fields. About 30 girls participated.
The Silver Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout Cadette can earn and recognizes leadership and community service.
