STAFF REPORT

The father of an alleged 12-year-old sexual assault victim says he found messages from a Travis Elementary School teacher on his daughter’s phone.

The discovery apparently prompted the parents’ complaints to San Marcos CISD officials on Monday who immediately suspended Steven De Leon, a 16-year veteran teacher. De Leon resigned his post as a physical education teacher the next day.

De Leon would speak graphically to his daughter during early morning phone calls, the alleged victim’s dad told KVUE News in a story that aired yesterday.

The police department in Martindale, where the sexual contact is supposed to have happened, is investigating De Leon, the school district said this week in a statement.
