STAFF REPORT

Voter precinct boundaries and polling places have changed since last election, Elections Administrator Joyce Cowan reminded residents this week as the start of early voting approaches for May 12 school board elections and the May 29 party primaries.

“Because of redistricting, many precincts have changed boundaries, and you may not be in the same precinct you were in during the last election,” Cowan said. “The delay in finalizing redistricting has also caused several elections throughout the county to be held almost back-to-back, with each election having different locations for early voting. This could cause some confusion among voters.”

In addition, the county’s Elections office — the central early voting location — has moved from its old location on Broadway Street to the new Hays County Government Center, 712 S. Stagecoach Trail. Signs at the Government Center will direct voters to an entrance designated for elections.

Early voting for school board elections runs April 30 to May 12. Early voting for the primary party elections runs May 14-15. Primary runoffs are scheduled for July 31.
