Central Texas Medical Center and former San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz will host the San Marcos Ministerial Association’s Hour of Prayer from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 3.
The observance will be held at the San Marcos Recreation Center at City Park, 170 Charles Austin Drive.
The event will recognize the National Day of Prayer, which takes place annually on the first Thursday in May. The public is invited to join area clergy, elected officials and community leaders for prayer focused on church, family, government, education, military, business and media/arts.
“CTMC is happy to offer its support for this year’s prayer event in observance of the National Day of Prayer,”said Sam Hunergardt, the hospital’s president and chief executive officer. “The event is true to who we are, as it fits our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.”
The National Day of Prayer is a yearly observance that was created by Congress in 1952 and signed into law by President Harry S Truman.
“We are blessed to live in a country where we can gather together and pray,” Narvaiz said. “On this [day], we come together as a community to seek forgiveness, praise God and ask for intercession for the United States and its people.”
