San Marcos police are investigating a fatal collision on the I-35 east access road just south of Wonder World Drive that claimed the life of a woman and sent two people to the hospital.

Exit 202 northbound in San Marcos and the 2200 block of the east access road will be closed for several hours overnight as the SMPD Collision Investigation Team continues its work.

The crash occurred around 12:30 am Thursday when an SUV collided with a pickup truck that was stopped in the right lane of traffic to change drivers. A woman from the pickup was killed.

A police unit that was behind the SUV was also involved in the collision.

The two injured, one from each vehicle, were transported to CTMC with non life threatening injuries. Police have not released the names of those involved in the wreck.
