Hays County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged an off-duty Austin cop this weekend for allegedly assaulting his wife then trying to keep her from calling 911.

Elias Osegueda, 30, was picked up at his home in the 100 block of Sloan Road in Buda at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday after his wife, Kourtney Osegueda, told deputies that an argument “commenced between the couple, which escalated to a physical altercation,” said Sgt. Philip Taylor, the sheriff’s office spokesperson.

Osegueda is charged with assault causing bodily injury and with interference with an emergency call, both Class A misdemeanors punishable by up to a year in jail. Osegueda was bailed out the Hays County jail on Sunday on a $2,000 bond, court records show.

Authorities did not specify the details of the assault or what type of injuries took place.
