After severe rains in the night, several roads have been closed around the Kyle area. No Buda roads have been reported closed. Hays County remains under a flood watch until noon today.

Road closures in the San Marcos area:

  • Old Bastrop Highway, between Texas 21 and Redwood Road.
  • Uhland Road at the Blanco River
  • Harris Hill Road
  • York Creek Road

Road closures in the Kyle area:

  • Bunton Lane at Bunton Creek
  • Burleson Street
  • South Plum Creek at low-water crossing
  • Rohde Road (Uhland)
  • Grist Mill Road (Uhland)
  • Dacy Lane between Windy Hill Road and Hillside Terrace
  • Lehman Road
  • Kelly Smith Road (due to damage being repaired)

Wimberley:

  • FM 1492 at low-water crossing
  • Hidden Valley Road at low-water crossing
  • Little Arkansas Road at low-water crossing
  • Wayside Drive at Bendigo

Driftwood:

  • FM 150 at Woods Loop
  • FM 150 at Double Crossing

Dripping Springs:

  • Trautwein Road at Barton Creek
  • Creek Road at Mount Gainor Road
  • Bell Springs Road
  • Gatlin Creek Road

Hays County will be under a flash flood watch tonight through tomorrow morning with a major storm system expected to bring torrential rain to the Austin area. The National Weather Service says:

A storm system will interact with high amounts of moisture over south central Texas and produce a significant flash flood threat Monday night into Tuesday. The chance of rain is expected to increase over the next 18 hours … with heavier rainfall rates expected Monday night. A training pattern of thunderstorms is expected along a cold front as it moves slowly eastward across the watch area late Monday night into Tuesday morning. sStorm total rainfall is expected to range from 2 to 5 inches … with isolated spots up to 7 inches. the highest flash flood potential is expected to be near the Austin metro area and farther to the north and east.

Today: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be severe. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. South wind between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. Low around 60. South southeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Tuesday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70. North northwest wind around 10 mph.

Tuesday Night: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 52. North northwest wind between 5 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 67. West wind between 5 and 15 mph.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 49. West wind around 5 mph becoming southeast.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 76. South southwest wind between 5 and 10 mph.
