Narvaiz

STAFF REPORT

Former San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz has landed the endorsement of the state’s largest anti-abortion political action committee, Texas Right to Life PAC.

“Having the support and recognition of this fantastic organization is a sincere blessing. The work they have done in Texas to articulate and protect the Right to Life of defenseless human beings has had tremendous effects throughout this state. I will continue to support their efforts and, once in Congress, I will work tirelessly to do my part in carrying on their message.” Narvaiz said.

Narvaiz is seeking the Republican nomination to run in a Democratic-leaning district that starts in east Austin and snakes down the corridor to south San Antonio, taking in an eastern sliver of Hays County along the way. She is running against San Marcos resident Rob Roark in the May 29 primary; filing for the position ends Friday, March 9.

The anti-abortion group’s assistance presumably will help Narvaiz secure the GOP nomination, especially in the heavily Latino, Catholic district in which she is running.

Navaiz, who was the San Marcos mayor for six years starting in 2004, is president and chief executive officer of Core Strategies, a public policy consulting firm.
