UPDATED 5:44 p.m.: Lockhart police have arrested a man wanted in connection with a stabbing in downtown San Marcos early Wednesday.
According to San Marcos Police Commander Penny Dunn, Michael Cuellar, age 27, was arrested by Lockhart police Wednesday afternoon.
He is the suspect in an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon that occurred around 2:10 a.m.
San Marcos police are seeking help from the public to locate a man suspected of stabbing and critically injuring a man early Wednesday morning in downtown San Marcos.
Police are searching for Michael Cuellar, age 27, of Lockhart, who is wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
San Marcos police, fire and EMS responded to the stabbing which occurred near the intersection of Guadalupe and San Antonio Street at 2:10 a.m. Wednesday.
Officers found the victim, identified as Maurice Brown, age 28, of Lockhart, with a stab wound in his chest. He was transported to Brackenridge Hospital and is listed in critical condition.
Investigators said that the victim traveled to San Marcos on Tuesday night with Michael Cuellar and several friends. After bar closing at 2 a.m., Cuellar began arguing with his friends and threatened one man with a knife. A warrant has been obtained for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with this incident.
Cuellar then allegedly stabbed a second victim and fled the scene. Additional charges are pending for the stabbing attack on the second victim.
Cuellar is registered as a sex offender in Lockhart.
