The City of San Marcos will hold a stakeholder workshop on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m., to receive citizen input on the proposed use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the 2012 program year.
The workshop is open to the public and will be held at the Sunrise Village II Community Center, 500 Parker Drive, #2411, in San Marcos.
CDBG funds are provided by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The funds are awarded by the San Marcos City Council to agencies and city departments for projects intended to benefit low to moderate income residents. The applications are not for individuals seeking direct assistance.
Project categories for the 2012 program will include housing, public facilities, transportation, infrastructure and public service projects.
The workshop will provide information about project eligibility and the application process. Those attending will have an opportunity to complete a funding use survey and to ask questions about the CDBG program.
A Spanish-speaking translator will be available at the workshop.
Citizens unable to attend the workshop may download a survey form from the city’s website by following the link: www.sanmarcostx.gov/cdbg and clicking on Citizen Comment Form. The form is available in English and Spanish.
The city is accepting grant applications from Feb. 13 through March 23. Applications are available from the Development Services-Planning office or may be downloaded from the city’s website at www.sanmarcostx.gov/cdbg
