SUBMITTED REPORT

CTMC will celebrate the 26th year of HealthCheck with a larger set of free and low-cost clinical screenings and more exhibitors focusing on fitness and wellness.

The event will be Thursday, April 26 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Embassy Suites in San Marcos.

This year, HealthCheck, which is the oldest and largest health screening event in Hays County, is again partnering with the Texas State Cancer Advocacy Movement for Colleges and Outreach to bring an expanded number of cancer-focused screenings and exhibitors. Additionally, new partnerships with the City of San Marcos Healthy City Task Force, the San Macros Chamber of Commerce and the San Marcos Daily Record will expand the event to include a “second-half of the expo hall” with wellness, fitness and nutrition exhibitors.

“HealthCheck is such an important component of many area resident’s healthcare maintenance each year,” said Clay DeStefano, CTMC administrative director of PR & Marketing. “We’re delighted to be able to keep growing the free screenings and clinical services available the day of the event.”

$45 fee covers the basic HealthCheck screening panel (over $500 worth of testing) and several additional tests are available for a low fee, including Thyroid Stimulating Hormone ($15), Hemoglobin A1C ($15), Vitamin D ($30), Carotid Artery Screening ($30) and a new Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) ($30) screening.

For more information or to register for HealthCheck, call CTMC’s Institute for Healthy Living at (512) 753-3818, or stop by the Health Living Community Resource Center in the main lobby of CTMC.

Last year, more than 1,900 area residents registered for screenings and more than 1,600 attended the event. CTMC recommends pre-registration, which is underway. Several pre-event blood draws will take place at CTMC and at the following locations in nearby communities.
