STAFF REPORT

Three San Marcos residents say they will effect a ‘complete audio/visual ascension’ tonight through their collaborative, spontaneous creation of psychedelic sound and imagery blending both ancient and contemporary expression.

Carlos Cedillo will perform Mayan Calendar-inspired music on sitar and an iPad controller while Topher Sipes creates animation – controlled via multitouch screen – digitally projected onto the stage. Lincoln Jones, whose band Helix is influenced by jazz, funk, world, gypsy, and balkan misic, will perform on trumpet.

“This is an absolutely new genre of music, better described as sound-sculpting,” Cedillo said of tonight’s performance.

The event will be at Wake the Dead Coffee House from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. There is no cover fee.
