Hays County closes two parks by Blanco River

Hays County Parks Director Jerry Pinnix has closed the Dudley Johnson and Randall Vetter Parks at the Five Mile Dam Park Complex on South Old Stagecoach Road, north of San Marcos. Both parks front the Blanco River.

“Our concern is that the river might exceed its banks if water continues to rise,” Pinnix said. “And, any time there is rushing water we are concerned the water could contain dangerous debris and contaminants. As a public health and safety precaution, the parks will be closed until we determine that the area is safe.”
