STAFF REPORT

The Hays County Democratic Party is hosting an election season kickoff rally and fundraiser at the Texas Music Theater in San Marcos 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14.

The rally will introduce candidates for office in the Hays County Democratic Primary election, currently scheduled for April 3 including U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett, running in District 25, and former U.S. Rep. Ciro Rodriguez, running in District 35.

Other races with Democratic candidates include Texas House of Representatives where Dripping Spring school board member John Adams is trying to regain the seat lost to Jason Isaac in 2010; Pct. 1 Commissioner Debbie Gonzales Ingalsbe, who is seeking a fifth term; and candidates for justice of the peace (Precinct 1, Place 1) and constable (precincts 1 and 2).

“The Democratic Party has always been the party of the people,” said Bill Liddle, the county party chair said. “And in today’s environment, where Americans are working so hard to overcome the effects of a difficult economy, our party continues to put the needs of families first. We’ve cut taxes. We’ve created jobs and reduced unemployment.  We’re working to improve our schools – not defund them, and to provide opportunity for our children, our veterans, and our communities.”

The Texas Music Theater is located at 125 E. San Antonio St., on the square, in San Marcos.  The suggested donation is $10 per person and refreshments will be served.

One thought on “Democrats to hold election season kickoff

  1. The Democratic party has made this economy worse by passing onerous regulation that stifles job growth. Passing entitlements that we can’t afford, and continue to spend like drunken sailors, and this is working for the people? Truth is school funding was increased for this bi-annum, so once again the Democrat strategy is tell a lie long enough and often enough and people will believe it. Socialistic economic policy and class warfare works for no one and is not a platform to build a successful platform.
