Court Appointed Special Advocates of Central Texas has invited residents to go “Cruisin’ with CASA.”

The Feb. 10 event, to be held at Dick’s Classic Garage in San Marcos, will feature antique cars, dinner, drinks and music along with a live and silent auction. Attendees may bid on items including a hunting trip for two at the Serengeti Ranch in London, Texas and a one-week stay in a South Padre Island beach house.

John Navarrette, CenturyLink manager of South Texas operations, will be honored at the event. Director Norma Castilla-Blackwell, CASA of Central Texas executive director, said Navarrette is the perfect example of how one individual can have a positive affect on an entire community.

“He has given so much to CASA of Central Texas and the San Marcos community,” Castilla-Blackwell said. “He exemplifies an extraordinary work ethic and impeccable character.”

Individual tickets may be purchased in advance for $60 and table sponsorships are available. Live and silent auction items are needed, and table sponsorships and individual tickets are available.

CASA of Central Texas advocates for abused and neglected children in the court system by recruiting, training and supporting community volunteers. According to CASA, its volunteers served more than 300 children in Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe and Hays Counties in 2011.
