Three San Marcos High School vocalists are preparing for the fourth and final round of All-State Choir auditions in San Antonio this month.

Phillip Barrios, Konnor Callender, and alternate Mercedes Gonzales must place in the top eight (out of 20) to make the All-State Choir. Their auditions will consist of performing two to three pieces in a foreign language, followed by a sight-reading audition. The students had to learn 11 songs in four languages to reach their current level of the competition.

Barrios and Callender placed in the Pre-Area auditions in December. Callender placed 2nd as an Alto 1, Barrios placed 5th as a Tenor 1, and Gonzales placed 2nd Alternate as a Soprano 1.
