The San Marcos City Council will meet Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 5:15 p.m. to canvass the results of the Place 3 runoff election and swear in John Thomaides.

Thomaides won the Dec. 13 runoff vote with 1,029 votes (54.73 percent) to Terry Nichols’ 851 votes (45.27 percent). The two had garnered the most votes out of a four-way race Nov. 8 for the seat occupied by Fred Terry, who did not run for re-election.
Thomaides returns to the city council after having served two terms previously from 2003 to 2006 and 2006 to 2009.
