Weekend events to feature goods by local artists, craftspeople

This weekend will afford San Marcos residents multiple opportunities to buy Christmas gifts made by local artists and craftspeople.

The San Marcos Nature Center will host its first annual Last Minute Market featuring goods from local artists, including handmade jewelry, tie dye clothing, wood carvings, bath salts, knitted and crocheted items, and hair accessories. The Nature Center will sell handmade seed ball bird feeders. Vendors will be outside and inside the center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The Nature Center is located at 430 Riverside Drive, next to the Tourist Info Center.

The Blue Goat Holiday Bazaar, slated for Saturday and Sunday, will feature art and gifts by San Marcos craftspeople. Items including jewelry, wearables, artwork, wood carvings, and more will be available. The event will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, at the Community Yoga Center (formerly Blue Goat Gourmet), located at 310 Mary Street.

In addition to produce and other food items for sale, the weekly Saturday Market on the Square will feature goods including soaps, knits, jewelry, clothing, and more. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the San Antonio Street side of the Hays County Courthouse, and will also feature live music.

All of these events are free and open to the public.
