Nicholas Boehm, San Marcos Baptist Academy student, placed fourth out of about 70 clarinet students from more than 25 schools in Central Texas, earning him the opportunity to audition for the All-State Band Jan. 7 at Robinson High School in Waco.
Boehm earned the fourth chair clarinet position in the Association of Texas Small School Bands Region 18 and 26 Symphonic Band following a Dec. 10 audition that was sponsored by the Texas Music Educators Association.
The Region 18/26 Symphonic Band will rehearse and perform at Texas State University Jan. 20-22. If Boehm advances to the All-State level, he will also perform at the Annual Convention of the Texas Music Educators Association in San Antonio in February.
A sophomore from New Braunfels, Nick was the assistant drum major in the SMA marching band during football season. He plays clarinet in the concert band and saxophone for the jazz band. Nick is the son of Texas State professors Richard and Denise Boehm.
