The debut concert of the Goodnight-Miller String Orchestra will be Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in San Marcos.

The orchestra, composed of middle school students from San Marcos CISD, will perform in the Goodnight Middle School Auditorium. The school is located at 1301 Highway 123.

In March, San Marcos CISD trustees voted unanimously to start a string program for this budget year. The district may add high school string instruction in the 2012-2013 school year.

“It is a testament to the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District that they are launching this new string program,” said Ann Stafford, Goodnight-Miller String Orchestra director.

Stafford called the formation of the orchestra “a Christmas miracle.”
