STAFF REPORT
A mother killed her 19-year-old son in Kyle late Thursday or early Friday, police say.
At approximately midnight on Nov. 18, Hays County Sheriff’s Office deputies and a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper responded to a “shots fired” call in the 700 block of Arroyo Ranch Road in Kyle. The female caller stated she had shot her son. Officers arrived and found Anne Flash, 47 years of age, cradling her 19 year old son, Michael Flash.
According to detectives, Anne Flash reported there was a struggle between her and her son, in which a handgun was discharged. Michael flash was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Beth Smith.
Anne Flash did confess to shooting her son and has been arrested for murder, according to police. She was booked into the Hays County Jail and later magistrated. Her bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety. She was released Saturday from the Hays County Jail after posting a $100,000 bond.
Assistant editor’s note: The above report was edited to say Flash was magistrated, her bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety, and she was released Saturday from the Hays County Jail after posting a $100,000 bond.
Anne Flash pointed a loaded gun at my little brother. If it accidentally went off, it doesn’t matter. She made a childish DECISION to point a gun at him that ended his life. It upsets me that the DA seems to be dragging her feet in indicting her and putting her behind bars. Anne Flash acts like it was an “accident” (her actual words in a text to me), but handguns don’t “accidentally” get pointed at humans. Gun safety rule #1 “Never point the gun at anything you don’t intend to destroy.” Justice for Michael Flash!
Still no indictment! Hurry up and get this murderer in jail Hays County!
