Sheriff’s deputies honored by Sons of the American Revolution

STAFF REPORT

Two Hays County Sheriff Office deputies received commendation medals this week from the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Amy Stacy, Hays County Sheriff’s deputy, received the Heroism Award for saving the life of a motorist whom she pulled out of a burning vehicle earlier this year.

“Her swift actions and response helped avoid a terrible tragedy from occurring,” said Lt. Dennis Gutierrez of the Hays County Sheriff’s Office.

Manuel De la Rosa, Hays County Sheriff’s deputy, received the Law Enforcement Commendation Medal for officer of the year.

“Deputy De la Rosa’s dedication to the Field Training Officer program and work ethic was noted in the award,” Gutierrez said.

De la Rosa and Stacy have worked for the Sheriff’s Office since 2009, said Gutierrez.
