San Marcos High School freshman Geromino Sabat IV strapped on his helmet earlier this month and mounted his bicycle to join the H-E-B sponsored “MS 150” that challenged participants to ride almost 150 miles in two days to raise awareness and money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
For the event, Sabat joined the H-E-B Cycling Team with his father, who is an H-E-B employee. The route began at the AT&T Center in San Antonio and finished at the Comal County fairgrounds in New Braunfels. The annual cycling event covers 100 miles or more, depending on the route options, over a two day period.
This is the third such benefit the young cyclist has finished. Sabat participated in his first biking event was when he was 11.
“These rides are serious work with the hills, rough roads, and afternoon heat, but he has accepted the challenges head on and finished strong every time,” said his father. “I’m very proud of my boy.”
