STAFF REPORT

San Marcos police are investigating a robbery and assault reported downtown at 1:57 a.m. Thursday.

A 26-year-old Hispanic male and a 24-year-old white male said they were attacked by two men in an alley behind the Texas Music Theater as they tried to enter their vehicle.

The offenders reportedly attacked with fists and a tire iron, robbed the victims, and presented a knife they took from one of the victims. San Marcos/Hays County EMS medics were dispatched to the scene and treated the men for minor injuries. One man had a small cut on left chin and the other victim’s injuries were not described in the police report, said SMPD Sgt. Dave Waugh.

Waugh said the offenders reportedly told the victims that “they knew who they were, they know they beat up their friend, and they were not going to get away with it.” The victims said they do not know the attackers and denied beating up anyone’s friend.

The attackers reportedly stole $11, a knife and a wallet, which contained a driver’s license and credit cards.

Both attackers were described as being in their early 20s and of medium build. One attacker is reportedly Hispanic and about 5′ 8″ tall. The other attacker is reportedly white and about 5′ 10″ tall.
