Wounded soldiers to be honored at San Marcos fundraiser

San Marcos Ducks Unlimited will hold its 33rd annual Banquet and Fundraiser next Thursday to honor injured combat troops and raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.

The WWP offers programs and services to soldiers who sustained job-related wounds, illnesses, or injuries on or after Sept. 11, 2001.

Ducks Unlimited will present specially-designed medallions to a group of soldiers from the WPP at the banquet and fundraiser, which will be on Oct. 13 at the San Marcos Activity Center.

For more information or to purchase a ticket for the event, call Richard Gillespie at (512) 396-2555 or Keri Eben Wilson at (512) 665-3324.

Ducks Unlimited is an international conservation organization established to restore and maintain optimal waterfowl habitat. The organization has thousands of chapters located in Canada, United States and Mexico.

“[We are] proud to, in a small way, say ‘Thank you’ to the men and women of the armed forces who have sacrificed so much for our freedom,” said the San Marcos Ducks Unlimited chapter in a written statement.
