UPDATED 1:35 p.m. SEPT. 27: A house fire near San Marcos and Kyle has been contained, although firefighters are remaining on the scene to watch for hot spots and flares.

The fire, in the 300 block of Oak Meadows Drive, was spawning smaller grassfires and caused an explosion when a propane tank combusted.

The South Hays Fire Department was on the scene along with the San Marcos and Kyle fire departments. The Wild Land Taskforce that fights brush fires has been called in.

The home was destroyed by the fire, but no one was injured in the propane tank explosion, a sheriff’s office spokesperson said. Everyone in the home got out safely.

A house fire in the 300 block of Oak Meadows Drive near San Marcos and Kyle is spawning smaller grassfires and has caused an explosion when a propane tank combusted.

The fire was not contained at last report from authorities less than an hour ago. No one was injured in the propane tank explosion, a sheriff’s office spokesperson said, and everyone in the home got out safely.
