Cafe on the Square holding Bastrop fire benefit

Cafe on the Square will host a benefit dinner to help teachers and staff in the Bastrop Independent School District’s Special Education Office, many of whom lost their homes in wildfires in recent week.

The dinner is 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27. Call the restaurant at 396-9999 for reservations.

Cafe owner Mike Dawoud is holding the fundraiser along with fellow downtown businessman Rob Robinson, who owns the Hill Country Humidor. Robinson’s wife is a special education teacher in Bastrop where 18 of 22 teachers and staff in the special ed department lost their homes in the fire.
