The City of San Marcos, the LBJ Museum, and the Downtown Association will sponsor a “Downtown Wine Walk” on Sept. 30.
Featured stops, which will offer light hors d’oeuvres and coupons for dinner discounts, will include Cafe On The Square, LBJ Museum, Root Cellar, Sean Patrick’s Irish Pub, Tap Room, Texas Music Theater, Vodka Street Bistro, and Way Back Attic. Texas State musicians will provide live entertainment. The event, which will include horse-drawn carriage rides, will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a welcome by Mayor Daniel Guerrero.
Each attendee will receive a commemorative, etched wine glass from the City of San Marcos. The event is $10 per person and limited to the first 170 registrants. The deadline to register is Sept. 16. Click here to register for the event.
“We’re pleased to show off our unique downtown as part of Discover Texas State,” said Scott Gregson, president of the Downtown Association. (Gregson owns interest in the San Marcos Mercury).
The Downtown Wine Walk is intended to kick-off the Discover Texas State Program, which will resume Oct. 1 with a Family Association Breakfast, campus tours, open houses and browse sessions, a GreenFest, and pre-game tailgating for the Texas State Bobcats vs. Nicholls State University game.
The Discover Texas State Program is intended to showcase the university’s academic programs, cultural centers, students, faculty and staff.
Check-in for the Downtown Wine Walk will be 4:30 p.m. at the Texas Music Theater on the downtown square. Free parking will be available at the San Marcos Farmers’ Market, on Edward Gary Street near the square, and there will be a free shuttle to the wine walk.
