Two arrested Wednesday on meth, weapon charges

Two individuals were arrested Wednesday night in San Marcos during an undercover police operation and charged with delivering crystal methamphetamine.

The Hays County Narcotics Task Force arrested San Marcos resident Jesus Angel Osorio, 19, and Kyle resident Stephanie Martinez-Gutierrez, 22, in a parking lot in the 1000 block on Highway 80 at about 9:30 p.m.

Osorio and Martinez-Gutierrez were charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group One, a first degree felony. The charge carries a possible prison sentence of 5-99 years or life and a fine not to exceed $100,000.

Police took the suspects into custody without incident after the pair allegedly delivered over four ounces of “ice” to the officers in exchange for the promise of an undisclosed amount of cash. According to police, “ice” is a potent form of crystal methamphetamine, a powerful stimulant. The amount offered for sale by Osorio and Martinez-Gutierrez had a street value of approximately $12,000, according to police.

Osorio, who officers allege was armed with a handgun, was also charged with Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon, a Class A Misdemeanor, which is punishable by no more than one year in the county jail and maximum fine of $4,000.

“Drug use and addiction are serious problems and we will vigorously pursue anyone who engages in the sale and trafficking of methamphetamine or any other dangerous drugs,” said Wade Parham, San Marcos Police Department sergeant and member of the Hays County Narcotics Task Force.

The Hays County Narcotics Task Force is a cooperative effort between the San Marcos Police Department and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office.
