The resident assistant Fire Academy included three training stations for the more than 130 students. Firefighter taught classes entitled “The Consequences of Fire,” “Fire Extinguisher Training,” and a smoke evacuation exercise.
The resident assistant Fire Academy is hosted before the spring and fall semesters by San Marcos Fire Department Capt. Howie Minor.
“The most important thing the RAs can take away from the training is understanding the importance of notifying the fire department promptly in the event of an emergency and evacuating the buildings completely,” Minor said.
