Sales tax allocations to San Marcos this month will exceed last month’s receipts by 23 percent, according to figures released by the state comptroller last week.
This month, San Marcos will receive $1,754,537.73, which constitutes the third-highest allocation so far this year and a 7.17 percent increase compared to the August 2010 disbursement.
The latest allocation represents June sales reported by businesses that are required to charge sales tax on goods and services. In addition, the June numbers include April, May and June sales from businesses who file quarterly, instead of monthly.
Sales tax allocations to San Marcos this year total $13,216,781.37, which is 6.46 percent more than the same period last year. For a list of monthly sales tax allocations to San Marcos since January 1988, click here.
This month, Hays County will receive sales tax funds of $1,020,825.21, which is 23.4 percent more than last month’s allocation and 8.11 percent more than it received in August 2010.
