Fire Marshal Mark Chambers and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office are jointly investigating a spate of fires in the Dripping Springs area that started on Friday and continued through today.
The North Hays Fire Department this afternoon extinguished four separate fires, starting with one near the intersection of Hidden Hills Road and Windmill Road that was called in at 2:47 p.m. At 3:20 p.m., officials received reports of three more fires: at Bell Springs Road and U.S. 290; Hill Top Drive and Spring Lake Drive; and Goodnight Trail and Ranch Road 12.
All of the blazes were contained by 6 p.m., a sheriff’s office spokesperson said. Information was not immediately available on the size of the fires.
On Friday, residents who live along Sports Park Drive and Terry’s Mobile Home Park were temporarily evacuated before firefighters brought a 20- to 30-acre brush fire under control.
Chambers is working “reports that today’s and Friday’s fires were intentionally set,” but has no suspects, the sheriff’s office spokesperson said.
