San Marcos disc jockey business Ultimate Sounds will celebrate its 20th anniversary this Saturday with dancing, hors d’oeuvres — and six decades’ worth of music.
The event, free to the public, will be at Tejano Country Ballroom on Texas 123 just south of San Marcos, at 7 p.m. Ultimate Sounds proprietor Lupe Vasquez said 400-450 people attended the business’ 10-year anniversary and filled the venue to capacity.
San Marcos Mayor Daniel Guerrero, Hays County Pct. 1 Constable David Peterson, and former San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz will be in attendance, as will other other dignitaries, Vasquez said.
“I never know who’s going to show up,” Vasquez said. “Ten years ago, we had members from the DPS (Texas Department of Public Safety) and the Sheriff’s Department come in and say a few words. It’s just people who…support us.”
Vasquez said finger food will be provided by local restaurants.
Ultimate Sounds, a family business, includes three DJ systems operated by Vasquez’s son, Tommie Vasquez, and two of his nephews, Joey and Tommie Vasquez. Vasquez said they provide musical entertainment “for just about anything.”
“We’re strong believers of helping out the community, so we’ve all volunteered and donated a lot…to the local churches, and (there are) non-profit organizations who request our services,” Vasquez said.
Vasquez said Sac-n-Pac is the official sponsor of Ultimate Sounds as it has been for 12 years.
