STAFF REPORT
Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) invites the public to its Summer Blood Drive on July 19 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the hospital’s Main Classroom.
According to CTMC, 55,000 units of blood must be donated quarterly in order to maintain a blood supply that will support the surrounding area. An individual donation can save the lives of two other people, according to CTMC.
“Each donation makes a tremendous impact in our community,” said CTMC Administrative Director of PR & Marketing Clay DeStefano. “The supply of blood during the summer months is extremely limited, as people go on vacations and give less. The blood donations are important for our trauma patients and to treat illnesses.”
CTMC and the Blood Center of Central Texas co-sponsor the blood drive.
Interested blood donators may signup before the event or find more information about donating blood at www.inyourhands.org.
CTMC advises blood donators to eat a full meal before donating and bring valid photo identification.
