City schedules two meeting on proposed smoking ban

San Marcos residents and business owners are invited to participate in two Open House meetings on Monday, July 18 and Thursday, July 21 at two locations.

The July 18 session will be 6-8 p.m. at the San Marcos Activity Center, Room 1, 501 E. Hopkins St. The July 21 session will be 6-8 p.m. at Texas Music Theater, 120 E. San Antonio.

The city council on July 5 seemed inclined to ask city residents to weigh in on a possible citywide smoking ban, including bars and nightclubs, in a nonbinding referendum. The city council is expected to meeting Aug. 2 to approve ballot language for a Nov. 8 election.
