Movies in Your Park starts June 7

The city of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Division and Time Warner Cable for the tenth year are sponsoring the free Movies in Your Park program at San Marcos Plaza Park. This season begins with the showing of Shrek Forever After on Tuesday, June 7 at sunset.

The 2011 Movies in Your Park series will feature eight movies, including:

• June 7 – Shrek Forever After
• June 14 – The Karate Kid
• June 21 – Despicable Me
• June 28 – Legends of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’hoole
• July 5 – How to Train Your Dragon
• July 12 – Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore
• July 19 – Megamind
• July 26 – Yogi Bear.

Movies will be held every Tuesday through July 26 and will begin as soon as the sun has set for the evening. Parks and Recreation invites parents to bring children at 7 p.m. for pre-movie activities. Concessions will be provided for a nominal cost.

Time Warner Cable will sponsor a Science Night on June 21 before the showing of Despicable Me. The public is invited to participate before the movie in some fun, science activities.
