STAFF REPORT

The Texas State University Department of Theatre and Dance presents Andrew Lippa’s award-winning musical The Wild Party through Sunday on the main stage of the Theatre Center. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday with a 2 p.m. matinee May 1.

Directed by Kaitlin Hopkins with choreography by Robin Lewis, The Wild Party was adapted by Lippa from a book-length poem about the Roaring ’20s. It tells the story of one wild evening in the Manhattan apartment shared by a vaudeville dancer and a vaudeville clown. In a relationship marked by vicious behavior and recklessness, they decide to throw a party to end all parties.

The Wild Party won the 2000 Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Musical. The Tony-nominated Lippa is the 2010-11 Composer-in-Residence at Texas State.

Tickets are $10 general admission and $7 for Texas State students. The production is recommended for mature audiences only. For reservations, call the Texas State box office at (512) 245-2204. For more information, please call (512) 245-2147 or visit the Department of Theatre and Dance Web site here.
