Hays burn ban back on

Hays County Judge Bert Cobb has reinstated the outdoor burn ban after, he said, being asked to do so by the Texas Forest Service.

He temporarily lifted the ban on Monday and said the commissioners court would consider its status at its regularly scheduled session on Tuesday. But higher winds and dropping humidity on Friday led the judge to put the ban back on.

“We recognize that inconveniences a lot of people who had planned to burn brush on their properties this weekend, and we’re hoping that soon the weather will cooperate enough for that to be done safely,” Cobb said.
