STAFF REPORT
The city of San Marcos is accepting grant applications through April 8 for 2011 Community Development Block Grant projects.
Applications are available in the Development Services-Planning office on the second floor of the Municipal Building, 630 E. Hopkins or may be downloaded from the city’s website here.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development provides CDBG grant funds for projects in San Marcos sponsored by non-profit organizations and city departments that benefit low-to-moderate income residents.
Eligible projects must satisfy national CDBG program objectives and address priority needs of housing, public facility improvements and infrastructure improvements.
Funding for the 2011 grant program has not been announced, and HUD anticipates that federal budget cuts could result in lower local funding this year. In 2010, San Marcos received $575,181 in CDBG funding.
For additional information about the CDBG program, contact Community Initiatives coordinator Janis Hendrix at 512-393-8147 or by e-mail at jhendrix@sanmarcostx.gov.
